Talk:A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations

Updated for the Eighth Edition

edit

The article now reflects changes made in the eighth edition. A description of the structure and content of the manual has also been included.

Also, materials from the University of Chicago Press also refer to the manual as A Manual for Writers (its shortened title when discussed in context). Brieftypo (talk) 04:44, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

New edition

edit

8th edition should really be the version discussed here. There are also other style manuals that are based on Turabian, such as The SBL Handbook of Style, which finally revised its manual (after 15 years) in Nov. 2014. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eshelley509 (talkcontribs) 13:04, 11 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

There is now an 8th edition. This article needs updating. Spicer5 (talk) 16:50, 22 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rename article

edit

I moved Turabian to the actual title of the book. That is, I reversed the redirects. Although I often refer to it as "Turabian," it is not the official title, and the article should be under the official title. TuckerResearch (talk) 14:56, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wording

edit

The first sentence seems a bit confusing or inaccurate to me. Surely "A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations" is NOT the popular name of a format. Wouldn't it be more accurate to say something like:

A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations is the source of the popular Turabian format. The book itself is also commonly referred to simply as the Turabian.

Right so, fixed a bit. TuckerResearch (talk) 02:32, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Quibble on title

edit

Just wanted to mention -- I've got a copy lying right here on the bed next to me, and the title is "A Manual for Writers of TERM Papers, Theses, and Dissertations." Perhaps it varies from printing to printing? 35.11.168.226 (talk) 09:06, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
